Term 3- Paws, Claws and Whiskers

Our topic for this term is called Paws, Claws and Whiskers. We will be learning about animals habitats, food chains and looking at why animals have specific features.

In English we will be looking at the story 'Handa's Surprise' and making predictions before moving onto innovating the story and making it our own. When the unit is finished we will be thinking about what we liked and disliked about the book. We will then move onto researching different animals before writing a fact file based around Africa.

In maths we will be covering shape, fractions, positional language, length and number work.

Take a look at some of the children’s projects they completed over the holidays.

In English we have been looking at the story Handa’s surprise. The children have learnt to retell the story using a story map ready for them to write the story in their own words.

In maths we have been learning about length. We have ordered objects by using the language longest and shortest and had a go at measuring length using cubes before we look at using rulers.

Take a look at our Spring art work. The children had to draw a still image of some daffodils.

We have been learning all about Chinese New Year this week. The children made their own dragons and practising their name in Chinese writing.
