Autumn 1- Dinosaurs

The children in Hazel class have been super busy during their first few days in Year One. They have been making birthday cards, ready for when it is everyone’s birthday, and they have been showing us what numbers and sounds they can remember.

In our Year One outside area, we found a strange egg! We had to change our English lesson and instead we decided to write about what we thought the egg might be.

In PSHE we have been talking lots about our feelings. We have been thinking about all the different feelings that we might feel and talking about how we can perhaps deal with those feelings.

We looked at the sorts of facial expressions we might see alongside those feelings.

Can you guess how these children are feeling in these pictures?

As part of the children’s continuous provision they have been making their own fossil using salt dough. They are going to have a go at painting them next week.

In Maths we have been looking at partitioning numbers into Tens and Ones. The children have been using the base 10 to show how numbers are separated into Tens and Ones and they have had a go at drawing their sticks and dots.

In our English lessons we have been learning lots of facts about dinosaurs and we have been following a text map to help us remember the fact file. We used actions as well, to help us.

Here are some videos of some of the children retelling the fact file.
