Summer 1 - Bounce!
This half term our topic is... BOUNCE! We are going to be learning all about different ball games as well as how to keep ourselves healthy. We are also going to be doing lots of research about a famous sporting hero who has had a significant impact on our country. We will be writing a biography of this famous sportsman's life and will be writing instructions on how to play the game 'rounders'.
Our class story this half term is...
MATILDA by ROALD DAHL
We loved reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl last half term and as a class decided straight away that we wanted to read another Roald Dahl book!
Lots of us have seen the film 'Matilda' but have never read the book. We are looking forward to seeing what the similarities and differences are between the film and the book!
In English this week we have been learning the story of 'The Princess and the Frog'. We have done lots of drama thinking about what the frog and the princess would be thinking and feeling at different parts of the story. We were very lucky this week and were visited by the frog and the princess themselves! We got the chance to ask them lots of questions so that we could understand their perspectives on the events that happened. Keep an eye on this page where we will be showing you the writing we do as a result.
This week we enjoyed spending our day celebrating The King's Coronation!
We made crowns and had a crown parade and made our own sandwiches for our afternoon tea party. In true Miss Rowley and Mrs White style, we also learned and performed a coronation song!
