Sport has a very high profile at Earl Spencer. High quality PE is delivered, throughout the school, by Mr Stevens and Mr Greenhalgh, our Sports' coaches. Reception and Key Stage 1 follow the REAL PE scheme, which is designed to develop holistic physical skills from an early age. As children move through the school, lessons develop into an increased emphasis on competitive sports. Earl Spencer has led the Duston Cluster of schools for the past 4 years, with termly training sessions for staff and competitions for children in Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. All 10 schools in the cluster participate in this project.
Additionally, we run many sports' clubs for the children, most of which are free to access. We also being in specialists, subsidising clubs in karate, rhythmic gymnastics and street dance, for example.
In July 2014, we were very proud, as one of only 3 schools in the town, to achieve our 'Silver Award' from the Sainsburys' School Games organisers.
In July 2016 and July 2017, we were even prouder to achieve the Sainsburys' School Games 'Gold Award'!
