Spring 2 - Wriggle and Crawl!

Welcome back! We hope you had a nice half term break and are ready to get stuck into our exciting topic - Wriggle and Crawl!

This half term we will be learning all about mini-beasts. In English we will be writing explanation texts on the lifecycle of a butterfly, and are even going to have our own classroom caterpillar as a pet so we can watch the lifecycle in action and see how they bloom into beautiful butterflies! We are also going to be reading the story of James and the Giant Peach by the very famous Author, Roald Dahl. In art we are going to be learning about the famous artist Christopher Marley who uses real life butterflies in his artwork and we will be taking inspiration from his work to create our own. We are also going to be having a visitor in school to do some pond dipping and mini-beast identifying with use, and we will be going on a trip to The Butterfly Farm!

We had a great start to our week back after the holidays by making and flipping pancakes! We had a flipping competition, and then got to make our own pancakes to eat. We loved it!

This week in Maths we have been measuring length! We started measuring in cm, then metres and then moved on to ordering and comparing lengths.

Our class story that Miss Rowley is reading us is James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Not many children in our class had ever seen a peach or eaten one! Miss Rowley brought in some peaches for us to enjoy and we decided that they were DELICIOUS! Here is us enjoying them!

!!WORLD BOOK DAY!!

Our theme in school this year was bedtime stories, so as a class we wrote our own bedtime story, turned it into a book and illustrated it with our own pictures!
Here is our class story - Beware of the Bawk!

ENJOY!
