Term 2: Towers, Tunnels and Turrets

Look at the wonderful castles some children have made at home for our topic. Lots of effort and hard work has gone into these so very well done! (and thank you to parents for helping also!)

In science this week we investigated which biscuits made the best bridges. We observed closely and predicted based on their properties.

The shortbread was the strongest and the sponge finger was the weakest.

This week in Topic we looked at different types of turrets, We looked at the story of Rapunzel and talked about how to make a turret out of paper. The children discussed different joining techniques to hold their turrets together and then decided which would be best. They were able to decorate them and thought about how the princess would get into and out of it.

Year 2 had a fantastic time of their visit to Warwick Castle. The children were excited to see everything they had been learning about in real life. We managed to climb to the top of the towers- there were a lot of steps! The children impressed us with their use of technical language when walking around the castle and they really learnt a lot from being there.

We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did and were able to tell you all about it.

We were very lucky today to have a visitor who came to tell us all about her faith-Judaism. She showed us lots of interesting objects and explained what they meant to her. Our R.E topic before half term of course was Judaism so she was very impressed with our knowledge! Take a look at some photos....

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term.

Our topic this half term is 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'.

We are very much looking forward to our trip to Warwick Castle next week to kick start our half term! Keep an eye out for photos....
