Term 1: Scrumdiddlyumptions



Our topic this term is Scrumdiddlyumptious! This topic is all about food. We will be learning about healthy eating, stories about food, food from around the world and so much more!

As an introduction to our new topic, we took part in food tasting! We tasted lots of new foods that we had never eaten before such as Olives, Humous and Guacamole. We also found out which countries the foods originated from. We really enjoyed tasting new foods. Ask us which ones we liked best. Here are some photos.

In our topic lesson, we designed and made healthy smoothies. We used fruits and vegetables and were able to choose which ones we wanted to use. Most of them were delicious! We also thought about how we could improve them.

We love having our parents come in to work with us on Wednesday mornings. This week we made 2D and 3D images of settings. This links into our English topic of Stories with familiar settings.
On Tuesday 20th October, Beech class went on a trip to Cadbury World in Birmingham. We have the best day and learned many new things about chocolate and the history of chocolate. To find out more, ask a member of Beech class :)
In Maths we have been learning how to measure different objects. We know how to use different measuring equipment and we can also estimate the length of different objects.
In Computing we have been using Scratch to make our own animations. We started off by making storyboards to help us. Beech class really enjoy using Scratch.
In Art we did some observational drawings of fruit and vegetables. We learnt some new sketching and shading skills today.
