Our new topic for this term is called Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
In our English lessons we will be focusing on a booked called Handa's Surprise. The children will be writing predictions about what is going to happen, writing a letter back to Handa and descriptions.
Our Science lessons will be focusing on animals, looking at their habitats and food chains. We will be learning about an artist called Henri Rousseau and the children will be creating a picture like his.
Lots of children have been very busy over the holidays making something that links to our new topic. It has been loving seeing what they have all made.
At the beginning of the week we did some drama and we were shown lots of different objects. Some of them being a range of fruits. All the objects linked to something which will become clear as the week goes on.
as part of our science we thought it would be exciting to use our sense taste and to try all the fruits. The children were confident at trying fruits that perhaps they haven’t tried before.
We took part of Wellbeing day and the children took part in some activities to help promote wellbeing. We did some peer massaging and meditation in the morning to set us up for our busy day.
Here are some picture of the children massaging one another.
The children have really loved learning about time this week. They are able to tell the time to o’clock and half past.
In our topic lessons we have been learning about Henri Rousseau and looking at his pieces of art. The children had lots of fun recreating his pictures using oil pastels. They worked super hard and really concentrated on the colours they should use and trying to fill the white gaps.
