At the moment in class we are reading the story ‘The Steadfast Tin Soldier’ by Hans Christian Andersen. We are going to be retelling the story and then innovating it, using the authors techniques to create our own version of the story! We started off this week by working in teams to come up with some WOW adjectives to describe the different settings and characters in the stories. We then used the thesauruses to improve our vocabulary. Make sure you keep a look out for our stories being displayed outside our classroom!
The last few weeks we have been learning about musical instruments throughout the ages and this week we decided to have a go at making our own drums! We used a tin, a balloon, rice, tape and stickers to make our drum shakers. Here are some photos of us making our drums. Keep your eyes on this page to see the instruction we make incase you want to make your own drum!
This week was children’s mental health week. Every afternoon we took part in a 10/15 minute activity to help us relax, feel calm and focus our minds. These included yoga, body scanning, meditation, relaxation stories and mindfulness colouring. Here are some pictures of us enjoying the week!
