Another busy week in Willow class.
In Maths, we have been looking at money all week. The children have enjoyed adding costs and finding the change needed. We also thought about what would need to be spent going on holiday. There are some interactive games for the children to play and practise their money skills in Term 3 Lesson links.
In English, we have been using our knowledge from our topic (Burps, Bottoms and Bile) to help us write an adventure story. In our stories, our characters have been shrunk and eaten. We are writing about the dangerous journey they will undertake in the digestive system (yuk)!
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Mrs Icer who has been in Willow class since September. We are very sad to see her go but we wish her all the best in her new job!
We've had a great start to our new topic: Burps, Bottoms and Bile. Ask your child to tell you where their food goes once it's been eaten - you'll be amazed at their new vocabulary! Following on from our visit from Atomic Tom, we've also spent an afternoon learning about different types of teeth.
Friday was our e-Safety day - we hope lots of you attended the parents session and found it informative. The children also had a session with our visitor and we discussed lots of ways to keep safe whilst surfing the internet. Our top tip was to use YouTube for kids (there is an app that can be downloaded) as you should be 13 years old to access YouTube and to use Squiggle as a search engine instead of Google.
A reminder that homework is being sent home on Fridays. The children will have spellings to practise everyday and a maths activity that has been taught at school that week. We are also having a push on reading and would like to see your child's reading record being signed at least 3 times a week. Thank you for all your help with this.
Welcome back after our Christmas break. We hope all our families had a lovely two week rest.
We started back with a WOW with a visit from Atomic Tom! We investigated if we need all our senses to taste the flavour of Starburst sweets (we had to eat them - it was a science experiment)!! We also discovered how much plaque was in our mouths but don't worry we brushed them clean afterwards. Check out the pictures in the Photos section in Term 3.
