This term our topic is Enchanted Woodland.
Week 1
We have been focusing on The Gruffalo story and in our English lessons we learnt some new Drama for Writing techniques.
We were looking at The Gruffalo as a character and were put into groups to describe a part of him and then wrote sentences. This exercise is called a 'Communal Character'.
We then moved on to something called a 'rolling theatre'. This involved the children saying their sentences aloud with music playing.
Here's a video to show you.
Week 2
This week we had a visit from a man who brought in various Woodland animals. He told us all about the animals and we even got the chance to touch and hold some of them. We got to see an owl, giant snails, two types of snakes, hedgehog, toad and a spider.
The children wrote letters to Santa and today we received our replies. They were all very excited!
During our last week of term the children have been doing lots of creative activities and on the Friday they had a very fun day. The children made and decorated gingerbread men and they made reindeer food.
The children loved their Christmas party in class. They had lots of food to eat and played pass the parcel, musical statues and sleeping lions and they did lots of dancing.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
