Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!
This half term our topic is 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'. During this half term the children will get to visit Warwick Castle where they will be able to gain a wider understanding of castle and what it was like to live in the past. They will even get to climb the towers and visit the jail! After learning all about castles we will be writing a non-chronological report to tell people about all the information we have learned. We will also be reading one of Miss Rowley's favourite books called 'The Tunnel', making inferences about the characters based on what they say and do and also making predictions. Keep an eye on our page to see all the exciting things we get up to. Make sure you ask a member of Cherry Class to tell you about everything they have learned!
This week was halloween and bonfire night!! We had a lovely time during parents morning making bonfire pictures with our grown ups. Take a look at some of our creative work!
This week was UK parliament week. To celebrate this we learned about something called a referendum. We held a class referendum and got to cast our vote on the question 'Should children at Earl Spencer Primary School have to do homework?'. We came up with a list of reasons for and against and then made our vote on a ballot paper like you would in a polling station. When everybody had cast their vote we counted the votes multiple times with people checking to ensure that our counting was accurate.
21 people voted YES and 7 people voted NO.
It looks like Cherry Class will be receiving homework this week!
This week we were lucky enough to go on a trip to Warwick Castle!
The children loved it and were full of enthusiasm! We learned lots of interesting facts about the castle and even got to climb up the towers and stand on the turrets! Here are some pictures of us enjoying our time at the castle.
